HOME MINISTRY WORRIED OVER SECURITY OF OFFICES IN WB
The Home Ministry has directed central paramilitary forces to ensure safety and security of all “offices and premises of central investigating agencies” in West Bengal. The instructions come in wake of a massive demonstration by the Trinamool cadre outside CBI’s Kolkata office on Monday morning following the arrest of TMC ministers in connection with the Narada scam.
Following the arrest West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also reached the CBI office at Nizam Palace which led to major drama there. A massive crowd of Trinamool supporters also surrounded the CBI office and they even resorted to stone pelting alleging the arrests were political motivated.
Ms Banerjee stayed at the CBI officer for almost six hours during which her supporters continued to agitate and protest outside.
The Home Ministry ensured that adequate central para-military forces were rushed to the CBI office to give proper protection to the staff and the premises. Due to this no major untoward incident was reported.
Now Home Ministry has directed that proper protection must be given to all offices of central investigating agencies like CBI, ED, Income Tax, DRI and others which are investigating some issues related to Trinamool leaders. Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar also expressed serious concern over the violence at Kolkata’s Central Bureau of Investigation office.
“No one will be allowed to take law in their hands specially against investigating agencies most of which are in probing cases on court directions. Even the Monday incident was being investigated on direction of the Kolkata High Court. So adequate arrangements are being made not just to seal all premises of such investigating agencies but also give protections to officers also,” a Ministry official said.
