Nitish Veera succumbs to COVID-19
Selvaraghavan, Dhanush & others condole untimely death
Nitish Veera, the actor who was trained in Koothu-p-Pattarai and was a regular in Selvaraghavan's films, passed away due to complications arising from COVID-19 on the morning of May 17.
He was 45. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, aged 8 and 7. Nitish, who started his career in the DhanushSelvaraghavan starrer Pudhupettai, had acted in films like Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu, Kaala, Peranbu and Raatchasi his most memorable movie being the DhanushVetri Maaran blockbuster Asuran. He played a scheming villain in it.
At a recent interaction with DC, the actor had been full of excitement as he shared that he would be reprising his role in the Telugu remake of Asuran, titled Naarappa. He said he was thrilled that he would be locking horns with veteran Venkatesh, who plays the protagonist in the T’town version.
The Tamil film industry offered their condolences to Nitish’s family. Director Selvaraghavan took to Twitter to share a picture of Nitish with Dhanush on the sets and wrote, “REST IN PEACE MY MANI.”
Vishnu Vishal, who worked with Nitish in a few films, wrote, “#RIPNitishVeera. It pains to write this... Acted with him in #Vennilakabbadikuzhu and #MaaveranKittu.. This covid second wave is taking away so many lives. Be careful and keep your loved ones really close to you .... ”
Dhanush wrote, “This is disheartening. Rest in peace my brother.”
Nitish was part of upcoming films like Gopi Nainar’s Goal, VSP’s Laabam and a web series with PushkarGayathri.
