- DC CORRESPONDENT

The Telangana Senior Resident Doctors Association gave notice for boycott of duties from May 26 if their demands for 15 per cent hike in honorarium is not approved. The notice was given to the director of Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences.

A silent protest by wearing black badges will be carried out from May 23 to May 26 by senior and junior doctors to highlight their demands.

The file pertaining to the 15 per cent hike in the honorarium for senior residents has not been cleared and the association is demanding that the measure must be implemented. The senior residents said that they have been following up with the state government on the matter for the last six months but there has not been any response till date.

Covid-19 infected family members of healthcare workers are not able to get treatment as there is no bed for treatment even in the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (Nims), the association said. There is a demand that bed strength at Nims must be increased and free treatment provided to family members of health care workers. The announcement of ex gratia of

`50 lakh for doctors who die in the line of Covid-19 duty, and `25 lakh for nurses must be honoured.

The association stated that the government had announced a 10 per cent incentive for all healthcare workers which had not been implemented till date. The TRSDA has stated in their notice that they will boycott services if their basic demands are not met.
