MP Revanth inaugurates Bolaram Covid hospital
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president and Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy on Sunday inaugurated the Covid-19 Hospital at Bolaram in the Secunderabad Cantonment.
On the occasion, Revanth Reddy had allocated Rs 1 crore from his MP Local Area Development Scheme fund to the hospital. He also raised funds from his associates in the US for the 50-bed hospital.
This is the first dedicated Covid-19 hospital in the Cantonment, and its inauguration brings some relief to the residents of the area. The hospital has been set up with a capacity of 50 oxygen beds. Revanth Reddy said the Covid-19 vaccination programme for the people of the constituency would be conducted from the hospital.
He promised to set up a full-fledged Coronavirus hospital with a capacity of
100 oxygen beds soon. He thanked everyone who had contributed for setting up the Coronavirus hospital in the
Cantonment.
Speaking to the media, he said the people of his Malkajgiri constituency were finding it difficult to get treatment in private hospitals, and the government had failed to control the ‘medical mafia’ which was overcharging patients. That was why he had set up the 50-bed hospital.
Speaking to this newspaper, J Maheshwar Reddy, vice-president of SCB, said, “This hospital would enable people across economic strata to use the services and recover from Covid-19. Also, it will have two ambulances to cater to emergencies.”
Earlier this month, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) had donated 100 oxygen cylinders, of which 50 were handed over to the SCB. Each of these cylinders can store 7,000 litres of oxygen. These high pressure seamless cylinders are certified by Bureau of Indian Standards and approved by the Petroleum & Explosives Safety Organisation.
An official of the board said, “We are spraying sodium hypochlorite at places of congregation to prevent the spread of Covid-19.”
