COVID VAX FOR SUPERSPREADERS CONTINUES

-

The second day of 10-day drive to vaccinate superspreaders, as identified by the state government, went on smoothly on Saturday. Authorities took measures to prevent incidents like the one at Red Rose Function Palace in Nampally, where two officials had been served notices after Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar identified that one of the persons, who had been vaccinated, did not belong to the superspreader category.

The state government has identified around 25–30 lakh people as super spreaders who are being vaccinated at different centres. The government hopes that vaccinating such spreaders will help bring down the number of Covid-19 cases in Telangana.

Vaccinations at most of the centres are starting on schedule at 8 am. But maximum people are turning up only after 10 pm, most of them small-time businesspersons, including push-cart vendors. They are reaching the centres after the lockdown is over at 10 a.m. Such people are, however, being vaccinated even though they are late. These vendors are then proceeding to their houses and, if stopped by police, presenting their proof of taking the jab.

About 150 staff had been deployed at Government High School in Musheerabad on Saturday for taking up sanitation works before and after the vaccination drive. Amenities like drinking water had been made available.

Narsimha, who is popular as sanitary Jawa at the Musheerabad centre, said they are constantly cleaning the place to ensure that cleanliness is maintained.
