Madan Mitra, one of the four heavyweight Narada sting bribery accused granted an interim bail by the Calcutta High Court recently, fell ill on Sunday soon after his release from SSKM Hospital.

He was the last among the three accused who were admitted at the Woodburn Block of the state government-run hospital due to ill-health.

Coming out of the hospital, a cheerful Trinamul Congress MLA of Kamarhati, in a red dress, expressed his gratitude to his followers and doctors also sang two Bengali songs in front of the media. “I am very happy that I am returning home,” he said.

The former state transport minister then visited a Mazar and then a Gurdwara in Bhowanipore to pay his obeisance. His aides, excited about his return to home, had arranged a small event roadside nearby to greet him.

While addressing the gathering the former TMC minister complained of breathing trouble. He was seen taking an inhaler while sitting on a chair.

the heat which might have caused a stroke. With my willpower, I was trying to reach out to the people. I had plans to distribute food to 5,000 people in my Assembly constituency but I could not,” Mitra said after reaching home. As his condition improved later, he informed that he would meet people on Monday.

The TMC leader further said that he sought forgiveness from God for any “unknowingly done mistake” and insisted that he was ready for penance.

Mitra was arrested along with West Bengal ministers Subrata Mukherjee and Firhad Hakim and former Kolkata mayor Sovan Chatterjee on May 17.

A five-judge bench of the Calcutta High Court on May 28 granted interim bail to all four accused.

The high court, as one of the conditions for granting bail, directed them not to appear for any press interview or make public remarks in connection with the case.
