Huge enthusiasm for vax causes massive traffic jam
Although Cyberabad police have issued a traffic advisory in view of the mega vaccination drive, traffic snarls were evident around the venue. Commuters waited for hours in the traffic jams in order to get vaccinated. Many netizens expressed their frustration on social media.
Sharing his experience with Deccan Chronicle, young Amrit, who took the vaccination, said, "The vaccination was done well and quickly. But there was a lot of waiting in the traffic to reach the place. I reached the Hitex junction (kaman) at around 8 in the morning and it took almost half an hour to reach the venue. Once I entered the hall, it took only five minutes for the jab. There was no waiting or observation period."
Actor Priyadarshi tweeted through his official handle with a picture showing a vehicle stuck in the traffic jam and captioned, "The only issue though!(sic)."
Many netizens recalled the days before the pandemic and how they used to get stuck for long hours in the traffic jam. Shanshank G said, "This pic suddenly gave me Hyderabad Traffic chills. Far away from this traffic for more than a year now and can't imagine getting back into this."
Another netizen tweeted, "Back to the good old Hyderabad traffic jam days! At least, even if it’s for a day."
Another netizen, Ravi Korukonda, suggested "Instead of 40K people on the same day, they should have planned 4K per day for 10 days. Less logistics and the same infra can be used over time, and no traffic jams or 4K x 10 locations across Hyderabad would have been wise.(sic)"
Speaking about the traffic issue, Cyberabad police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said, "Although slots were given to applicants, many of them started reaching the centre by the early morning, some two hours before the scheduled start at 8 am. Otherwise, the vaccination drive happened in a hassle-free manner."
