Anil goes green
Anil Kapoor talks about how the pandemic made him realise the importance of the environment
In a bid to encourage everyone to keep the environment fresh and clean, the veteran actor lent his support to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC’s) ‘Be A Tree Parent MEGA Foundation Vriksha Campaign’ with Make Earth Green Again (MEGA) Foundation, on World Environment Day.
“We’ve started individually planting and adopting trees. These are just small yet meaningful gestures we can all undertake,” says Anil while speaking about the event. “We need to keep the environment green and thus planting trees regularly will help us keep it as green as possible.”
The actor also pointed out how planting trees will not only benefit our generation but also remain for a long time, thus becoming beneficial to our future generations too. “This is just the beginning, like a seed being sown right now. It will bring betterment to the people, who can enjoy a green environment and a pollution-free air too,” he added.
TREES FOR ALL
Praising the concept of World Environment Day, the actor also pointed out how the day is symbolic and instils the responsibility in all of us to do our bit for the world and the environment. “This garden, where we are seated, I feel, is also adding to our comfort. In a way, this part of the area that was maintained for many years is giving back to us something. We need to encourage everyone to keep planting trees,” the actor said while at the event, adding that he always encourages his friends to plant trees too.
While winding up his thoughts, he talked about how the pandemic has taught him the importance of our environment. “Honestly speaking, I too never thought about all of it as my priorities in life were something else. But that has changed after experiencing the pandemic. My friends and I spend time in trying to better the environment and I encourage my well-wishers to do so too,” he said.
