Ramana hints at switching parties

TRS aims to bring in state TD chief to replace Etala, placate BC votes

-

The plan ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) to use Telugu Desam (TD) TS president L. Ramana as a counterweight to former minister Etala Rajendar among backward classes seems to be bearing fruit with Ramana throwing enough hints in this regard at a meeting he addressed in Jagtial on Sunday.

Ramana

of

recalled

that he had faithfully carried out the responsibility given to him by TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu of holding reins of the party in Telangana since the past seven years. He had earlier been a minister in Naidu government and was even an MP.

The TS TD chief said had he desired any high posts, he could have crossed over to ruling TRS, as he is very close to over 70 per cent of the TRS leaders.

As he did

not

expect anything from any party, he had so far fulfilled his responsibility perfectly, the TS TD maintained.

However, Ramana expressed worry over the situation of TD in Telangana state. Ramana said despite striving hard for strengthening the party at grass-root levels, Telugu Desam is not in a position to “continue further in the region”.

“Not for posts or any other higher position, but to provide services to people, there is a need to change the

president party,” Ramana supporters.

He asked his followers not to believe in speculations doing rounds about he being either made an MLC or given a minister’s posts if he changes his loyalty from the TD to the TRS.

The TD state chief, sources said, is likely to announce his decision of joining the ruling TRS within a day or two.

“Have trust in me,” Ramana told his supporters.
