- NAVEEN KUMAR | DC

The Hyderabad city police served notices to the country head and senior director of Oracle India and his wife for taking advantage of his position in the company and using the reputation of Oracle for trapping customers and taking 100 per cent advance money for projects by a company floated by them, MADS Creations Pvt Ltd., and allegedly duping their clients.

A cheating and forgery case was booked by the Jubilee Hills police against Pradeep Agarwal, the country head and senior director of Oracle India, and his wife Meenu Agarwal, for exploiting the goodwill and reputation of the company for trapping the customers and taking 100 per cent advance money.

Based on a complaint, the city police registered an FIR under Sections 406, 420 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code. During the course of investigation, they served notices to Agarwal and his wife for the purposes of the investigation.

“Their modus operandi

IN ORDER to coerce clients into paying higher amounts, Meenu Agarwal had allegedly threatened clients with implication in false sexual harassment cases or false attempt to murder cases, the police said.

is to advertise on the website with false promises and engage the client into discussion and seek advance money without any documentation signing. Once the advance money is received, they stop responding to the customers, and ask for more funds for the same work,” said the police. The Jubilee Hills police said that the couple would unilaterally increase the project cost on their own without consent from the client.

In order to coerce clients into paying higher amounts, Meenu Agarwal had allegedly threatened clients with implication in false sexual harassment cases or false attempt to murder cases, the police said.

The work is usually abandoned despite receipt of 100 per cent advance payment. In some stray cases, work is done but in an extremely shoddy manner and not as per the agreed upon specifications. From the actions of the accused, it appears that they had no intention of ever completing the work, the police said.

“With the advent of social media and digital presence, people like Pradeep and Meenu Agarwal having knowledge of software and digital marketing are able to advertise their company and win the trust of clients using the name of Oracle, only to cheat the customers and not provide the agreed upon service after an advance payment,” the police said.

“People must be cautious of these companies run by... people like Agarwal in this digital era. In the current situation when people are battling with Coronavirus and its effects on jobs and income, the couple is cheating people and taking away their hardearned life savings and in some cases future money also, where a loan is taken to build a home,” the police said.

It said that investigation is in progress to unearth such heinous crimes “executed by corporate stalwart like Pradeep Agarwal, senior director and country head, Oracle India, and his family.”
