Act against spurious seeds: Uttam to govt

- DC CORRESPONDENT

TPCC president and Lok Sabha member N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday criticised the state government for it was only indulging in blabbering but doing nothing to check sale of spurious seeds in the state.

Addressing the media after attending the general body meeting of the Huzurnagar municipality, he said though the Chief Minister has announced that Preventive Detention Act would be used against the sellers of spurious seeds, no action has been taken against the accused.

He asserted that the Congress would launch agitations if the government did not take action against such racketeers within 24 hours. The Nalgonda MP said that the municipality was an autonomous body and it should not allow others to wield powers. He made it clear that all financial powers should be used only after they are cleared during the general body meeting.

He said that in view of prevailing Covid conditions, the meetings could be held in the function halls or online. He said that he has been striving for development of Huzurnagar town, all through his political career. He said that Huzurnagar gram panchayat was converted into a municipality with his efforts as an MLA.

He said that Huzurnagar was the first municipality to have a ring road after Hyderabad. He said that construction of 4,000 units of double bedroom houses are in progress. He demanded the government to complete them immediately.
