City cops organise Covid vax for underprivileged
The Hyderabad police organised a vaccination drive on Tuesday for underprivileged people like beggars, vagabonds, migrants and others apart from transgenders on Tuesday. The drive was launched by home minister Mohd Mahmood Ali.
According to the Hyderabad police, about 6,000 people will be inoculated with Covishield during the drive.
The beneficiaries will be registered on the spot. Officials have set up 25 counters.
Minister Mahmood Ali said that Coronavirus cases had reduced in the state due to the efforts of the police. “The service of the police in enforcing the lockdown properly are commendable,” he said. He asked people not to believe rumours about the Covid-19 vaccine, and said that everyone should get vaccinated. “We will take action against those who spread false propaganda regarding the vaccine,” he said.
Police commissioner Anjani Kumar said, “For the last one-and-a-half years, we have been providing all kinds of services to the community. Today we have identified those who are eligible for vaccination. In addition to providing them transportation to come to take the vaccine, accommodation has also been provided for them.”
Police said 35 street volunteers and nearly 65 traffic ‘Faristey’ volunteers are supporting this event by mobilising people in the specific categories.
Among those present there were legislators Danam Nagender and Maganti Gopinath, P.V. Krishna Reddy, MD Megha Engineering, and Dr Ramesh of Rainbow Hospitals along with several senior police officials.
