Adilabad youth pairs up with bull to plough field

- PILLALAMARRI SRINIVAS I DC

An Adivasi farmer’s family is using one of its members, along with a bull to balance the plough while doing agricultural operations, much to the chagrin of civil society.

The family is said to be distressed with sudden death a bullock and left with a single bovine to plough the fields. However, since the ploughing cannot be done with a single bullock, the family is using one of its men to balance the plough in Dongargam village in Indravelli mandal in Adilabad district.

The farmer, Kova Abhiman, has been using his son Kova Avinash, 18, in place of a second bullock to balance the plough in agriculture operations for sowing cotton in their six-acre agriculture field. Avinash said one of the bullocks pair died of ill health while ploughing their agriculture fields for sowing in the Kharif on Sunday evening.

“They had left with no option except using their son as a bullock to balance the plough to complete the ploughing,” said Abhiman and added that their neighbour and villagers were also busy ploughing their own agriculture lands with their cattle with the onset of rains.

Abhiman said they were desperate to plough their land and hence using their son as a bullock to complete the work. Otherwise, the soil would lose moisture if there was any delay, he said.

He said they had no money to purchase a bullock for ploughing right now and appealed to the officials of Integrated Tribal Development Agency, Utnoor, to provide a bullock to their family so that they could continue agriculture operations for this Kharif.
