OWNERS GET BACK `1.50 CR WORTH STOLEN ITEMS

About `1.50 crore worth stolen property, including gold and silver ornaments, vehicles, and cash which were lost due to theft, robbery, burglary, and attention diversion, was returned to the owners by Cyberabad police here on Tuesday.

The ‘stolen property release mela’ was held at the Cyberabad Police Commission­er office wherein victims of property offences from all over the commission­erate were present.

“We detected several property offence cases this year. With the sustained efforts of all wings of the Commission­erate, including law and order, detective, CCS and SOT, the offenders were arrested and the stolen properties recovered from their possession,” said police commission­er of Cyberabad, V.C. Sajjanar.

The property that was recovered included 93.1 tolas of gold, and 360.2 tolas of silver in 20 cases.

Around `30,67,463 was recovered in another 30 cases, 90 vehicles were recovered in 90 cases, 35 mobile phones were traced in 25 cases, and 11 other properties recovered in 11 cases.

From the overall 176 cases, property worth `1.50 crore was recovered.

The public expressed happiness after getting their properties back.

“They also were satisfied with the proactive approach of police in intimating them and helping them to get lost property,” the police commission­er added.

Sajjanar expressed that handing over stolen property forms a critical part of the criminal justice system in the country.

The police commission­er also appreciate­d the efforts of all wings of Cyberabad police in detection of cases, apprehensi­on of criminals, recovery of property and their prompt release to the rightful owners.
