Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and Lok Sabha member, A. Revanth Reddy, said that former Union minister and ‘Best Parliamentarian’ awardee S. Jaipal Reddy was one of the honest leaders in politics, who had played a key role in the formation of Telangana state. The new state should take forward his inspirational contributions and ideologies, he observed.

Revanth Reddy and other senior party leaders paid rich tributes to Jaipal Reddy on his second death anniversary here on Wednesday. Those offering floral tributes at Spoorthi Sthal on Necklace Road included TPCC working presidents J. Geeta Reddy, Anjan Kumar Yadav, B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, Madhu Goud Yashki, and AICC secretary Vamshichand Reddy. Speaking on the occasion, Revanth Reddy said that Jaipal Reddy’s initiative brought metro rail to the city. Although he held several prominent positions in the union cabinet, Jaipal Reddy never faced any corruption charges, he said.

By convincing UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Jailpal Reddy paved the way for a separate Telangana state, he said. After former prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, Jaipal Reddy is the tallest leader from Telangana, he said.

Speaking about police cases against Congress activists, he said that the highhanded police abolished the rights of their MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy. He demanded immediate release of Congress activists from jails. Revanth Reddy asked minister Jagadish Reddy to mend his ways and stop harassing Congress activists.
