GHOSH DOUBTS SUPRIYO’S CLAIMS BEFORE QUITTING PARTY

- RAJIB CHOWDHURI | DC

A day after former union minister Babul Supriyo announced his resignation as Asansol BJP MP and also his exit from politics on Facebook, West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh has questioned gaps in his claims.

The Midnapore MP also asserted that the famous Bollywood singer has been and would continue in the BJP. On Supriyo’s resignation as an MP, Ghosh told the media, “I do not see who writes what on Facebook. Did he really quit? You need to look into it.”

Asked about the former union minister’s exit from BJP, he added, “Me, Supriyo only talked about leaving. But where will he go? He might go abroad for traveling because he is a famous singer and performs at overseas events also. Did he, however, state that he has quit the party? He is and will be in the party.”

Supriyo, however, accused him and Trinamul Congress state general secretary Kunal Ghosh of making “uncouth” remarks on his announcement.

On Facebook, he stated, “I have read your comments. All saw, understood, supported, strongly opposed, questioned and sought explanations. Some people have used ‘language’ according to their own tastes. It’s all accepted. But I can answer your question through work too. For this, what is the need to continue as a minister or an MP? Please give me some time...”

Referring to the state BJP chief and TMC state general secretary the former union minister however added, “At least note, you don’t have to deal with this kind of ‘personality’ or uncouth comment every day!! Tell me how much positive energy will be saved which I can use for other honest work!!”

SUPRIYO ACCUSED him and TMC state general secretary of making ‘uncouth’ remarks on his announcement.
