Nandini, Deepthi, Srinivas shine

Promising Telangana athlete Agasara Nandini came up with another impressive performanc­e in the National Federation Cup Junior Under 20 Athletics Championsh­ips at the War Hero Stadium in Sangrur, Punjab.

Nandini won the junior girls 100 metres hurdles by clocking 13.96 seconds, a time that also earned her qualificat­ion for the Junior World Championsh­ips to be held in Nairobi, Kenya, from August 17 to 22. The qualifying time was set at

14.15 seconds.

Ann Tomy of Kerala

(13.98) and Unnathi Bollanda of Karnataka

(14.42) were second and third respective­ly.

Later, Nandini won the silver in long jump. She cleared 5.80 metres to be second to Shaili Singh of Uttar Pradesh, who leapt to

6.40m.

Anjali of Haryana was third with an effort of

5.63m.

Andhra Pradesh’s Nalubothu Shanu Srinivas won the Junior boys 100 metres with a timing of

10.64 seconds, ahead of Karnataka’s Shashikant

(10.65) and Delhi’s Nehal Saga (11.01).

Deepthi Jeevanji of Telangana was second in the Junior girls 100m race with a time of 12.12 seconds, behind Avantika of

Maharashtr­a who took gold in 12.05 seconds. Harita of Maharashtr­a was third with a timing of 12.40.
