CONG LEADERS VIE FOR BHUPALPALLY MLA TICKET

Though the Assembly elections are more than two years away, Congress leaders are fighting among themselves for the Bhupalpally constituency ticket.

After Congress MLA Gandra Venkataramana Reddy joined the TRS, the party lacked leadership here. Former MLA Konda Surekha and her husband former MLC Konda Muralidhar Rao stepped into the vacuum.

Duddilla Sridhar Babu, MLA from the adjacent Manthani constituency, also led some party activities in Bhupalpally. His brother Srinu Babu is reported to be vying for the party ticket.

Recently, after A. Revanth Reddy took charge as TPCC chief, All India Forward Bloc leader Gandra Satyanarayana Rao announced that he is going to join the party soon. He is holding meetings with Congress leaders across the constituency. As a result of this, the Congress leaders and activists in the constituency seem to be confused.

The Congress had a good grip on the constituency during the Telangana movement and even after the formation of the state, people supported the Congress by voting for Venkataramana Reddy in 2018.

It was speculated earlier that Satyanarayana would join the Congress as he was close to Revanth Reddy. He is now accompanied by DCC president Aita Prakash Reddy across the constituencies to hold meetings with Congress leaders. Satyanarayana Rao sought cooperation from them in entering the election ring on behalf of the Congress in the coming elections.

Meanwhile, Srinu Babu has been keeping a low profile recently and followers of Satyanarayana Rao and the Konda couple are locking horns with each other. At this juncture, the Congress cadre in Bhupalpally constituency are totally perplexed as their leaders who are supposed to strengthen the party by standing with the people are fighting for seats in the next elections.
