BJP state leadership under pressure from ‘outsiders’ for appointments
Even as the state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar readies his padayatra, the BJP leadership is caught in a peculiar situation with ‘newcomers’ putting pressure for a respectable position in the party. These are primarily those who jumped over to BJP from other parties. They are lobbying hard for getting appointed as incharges for their respective constituencies. They contend that with their individual clout built over the years and their rapport with the electorate, they can strengthen the party prospects in the 2023 Assembly elections.
It may be noted that leaders who had shunned TD and Congress for BJP are dissatisfied with the leadership for not being allocated any specific job in the party. They recall the recent instances wherein E. Peddi Reddy and Motkupalli Narasimhulu were so disillusioned at the lack of recognition that they left the party.
The leaders
who joined from other parties include A. Chandrasekhar, Gudur Narayana Reddy, Lanka Deepak, Palavi Rajani, Ch Sunil Reddy, Vikram Goud, Ravi Yadav, Kuna Srisailam Goud and Devender Reddy. They have been urging for appointment as constituency in-charges, which is putting the leadership in a quandary.
The state unit is worried that if they oblige, then the sentiments and trust of the longstanding and loyal party leaders may take a beating and it could lead to ego-clashes in some segments.
Reportedly, some former MPs are discussing with their close associates about the ‘neglect’. Sources in the party said that a majority of the ‘newcomers’ are asking for appointment as in-charges before Sanjay’s padayatra.
Driven to the wall, the state leadership is keen to discuss these perplexing issues with the high command before appointing constituency and parliament incharges. A state core committee meeting is likely before the padayatra.
