Don’t let people crowd at Ganesh fest, HC warns TS
The Telangana High Court on Wednesday directed the Telangana state government to ensure that no huge congregations are allowed for the ensuing Ganesh festival and other festivals in view of the anticipation of the third wave of Covid19.
A Division Bench of the Telangana High Court comprising Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy was hearing the batch of Public Interest Litigations related to Covid- 19.
The Bench expressed dissatisfaction over the state medical and health department for not furnishing the fresh status report and details related in tackling the Covid-19 by the state government. The court had sought details from the director of medical and health in July, when the batch of PILs had been heard last occasion and he ought to have submitted to the Court few days back .
The court directed the director, public health and family welfare Telangana to furnish the report on Sero Surveillance minutes of the statuary committee constituted under the Disaster Management rules. “By now the state should have laid the road map with a concrete plan to deal with the third wave of Covid-19, as has been done by other states... a colour coding graded responsible action plan ought to have been in place by now,” CJ Kohli observed. The Bench directed the Union government to file an affidavit furnishing details of the core committee meeting which is held recently where there was a discussion on the MRP of the life-saving drugs required to be included in the National List of the Medicines, used to treat Covid-19 patients.
L. Ravichander, senior counsel brought to the notice of the Court that the government was not explaining the available pediatric services and the training given to them to tackle the pandemic, if it hits children.
The PILs were adjourned to 8 September for further hearing.
