Missing files: Ex-cop refuses to leave NIMS, docs in soup

- DC CORRESPONDENT

DOCTORS AT NIMS say they have got one file of the former DGP. NIMS superintendent Dr N. Satyanarayana said, “One file has been found and will be returned. I am not sure about the other file. What are we to do with the patient details?” ●HOSPITAL AUTHORITIES say that the nursing staff and treating doctor have stated that they will return the file. When the file could not be found, the nursing staff told family members of Sen that it had been misplaced which made them angry.

Former director general of police Swaranjit Sen who underwent treatment at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) for Covid-19 refused to leave the hospital, alleging that the staff had misplaced his medical reports.

“I have been at the hospital for 17 days and told the doctors that I would not leave till I get my files back. I have to get a full body check-up done every two years and I visited this place about seven times for scans and tests, following which I tested positive for

Covid-19 and got admitted here. I provided my medical reports of previous checkups and the file was titled

2021,” Sen said. “Meanwhile, another file, with the title 2020, was also shared with the doctors for their understanding of my medical history. I told doctors that during the discharge, they should prescribe me medicines according to my previous medication. However, every time I asked for the files, they gave reasons and excuses to hold them back claiming it was against hospital policy. How can a policy be against a patient having his own file?”

Now when I ask for the file, they say it’s not there.

They then told me that the concerned doctor is in Warangal for a wedding and I asked them to give me in writing that my files will be returned. I cannot imagine what a common man has to go through if a former police official is treated this way,” Sen said.

Sen, who is in the hospital, wants it in writing that his file will be returned to him. The resident medical officer and nursing staff are looking for the file, sources said.
