HC DECREE ON DALIT BANDHU INVOKES MIXED RESPONSES

- DC CORRESPONDENT

The High Court orders on Dalit Bandhu scheme on Wednesday evoked mixed reactions from political parties. Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) MLA Balka Suman termed the High Court orders as a slap on the face of Opposition parties and other vested interests who were trying to stop the Dalit Bandhu scheme.

"As a Dalit, I know the problems we face in society. There is poverty in all castes but in Dalits there is poverty coupled with social discrimination. No PM or CM in the country thought of implementing a scheme like Dalit Bandhu in the past 75 years. After several brain-storming sessions over the last two years, KCR garu came up with Dalit Bandhu scheme to make Dalits stronger both economically and socially. This is neither a new scheme nor launched for political mileage in Huzurabad bypoll. It's very sad that the BJP and the Congress are trying to block such a noble scheme for petty political interests. They moved the Election Commission and High Court against this scheme. We are very happy to know that the High Court refused to stop this scheme," Suman said.

BJP SC Morcha national general secretary S. Kumar stated that the High Court orders would ensure transparency in the implementation of Dalit Bandhu scheme and check irregularities. He demanded that the state government should implement the scheme for all Dalits simultaneously across the state and not just in Huzurabad and Vasalamarri.

He also demanded that the government put the GOs on Dalit Bandhu in public domain to ensure transparency as ordered by HC. He questioned utilising SC sub plan funds to Dalit Bandhu and demanded that the Chief Minister should allocate special funds for Dalit Bandhu. TPCC senior vice president Mallu Ravi said they welcomed the judgement of HC on implementation of Dalit Bandhu scheme.
