Yogi’s ‘Mission Shakti’ 3.0 to honour women
As the Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh draw closer, state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the third phase of ‘Mission Shakti’ with an aim to promote safety, respect and self-reliance for women. The latest phase was inaugurated in the presence of Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Governor Anandiben Patel.
This is the flagship programme of the Uttar Pradesh government which was first launched in October last year. The third phase of the programme will end on December 31. The main schemes that are scheduled to be implemented in this phase are the launch of ‘Mission Shakti Kaksha’ (classrooms) at all the 59,000 gram panchayat bhawans among other programmes.
In the programme, the chief minister also transferred 30.12 crore into the bank accounts of 1.5 lakh new beneficiaries under Kanya Sumangala Yojana.
Uttar Pradesh government had earlier announced a `3,000-crore scheme to distribute tablets and smart phones among 1 crore youngsters pursuing graduation, post graduation, technical and diploma courses in the state. The scheme, which comes months before the state goes to the polls, was announced by the chief minister in the Assembly during his speech on the supplementary budget.
Adityanath was in Delhi also earlier this week to discuss the contours of his government with the top leadership of the party. In a meeting held by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and attended by BJP National President J.P. Nadda, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister was also present. Sources said besides candidates for the Legislative Council, the leaders discussed the expansion of Adityanath’s Cabinet and the party organisation in Uttar Pradesh. Emphasis was also laid on taking allies along at the meeting, which went on for around three-and-a-half hours.
