BJP tries to woo Dalit Christians unhappy with TRS, Cong. rule
The Telangana State unit of BJP is to focus on Dalit Christians and all those sections, which are dissatisfied with the TRS government, particularly after the launch of Dalita Bandhu scheme.
Apparently, the party took stock of the voting patterns in Nagarjunasagar, Huzurnagar and GHMC and found that Dalit Christians felt let down by the government.
According to party sources, Dalit Christians constitute about 15,000-18,000 voters in every constituency with which they could emerge as a decisive force. The party is particularly keen on the 27 SC and ST reserved Assembly constituencies. Senior leaders like Babu Mohan are trying to bring such unhappy sections into the party fold during Bandi Sanjay's Praja Sangrama Yatra.
A team from New Delhi is reporting to Amit Shah about the programme and the message from the central leadership is to concentrate on Dalit Christians who are unhappy with both TRS and Congress.
The party has identified such vulnerable constituencies and its leaders have started sending feelers after establishing communication with heads of the community, who can influence the community.
Party sources pointed out that TRS did not field even one Christian candidate in the GHMC polls.
There are over 16,000 voters from the community in Huzurabad, who can decide the fate of the contenders, one way or the other.
Etala Rajendar is preparing a plan that is aimed at strengthening relations with the community and consolidating them.
The decision to concentrate on Dalit Christians comes in the wake of Dalita Bandhu and
Dalita Girijana Atma Dandora by Congress. Every disgruntled leader is being assured of a position
of leaders switch-over.
