Apollo Hospitals launches modern diagnostic­s lab

APOLLO DIAGNOSTIC­S has seven major hubs at Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Lucknow.

Apollo Hospitals Group launched the Apollo Diagnostic­s Global Reference Lab here on Friday, the day Apollo Hospitals Jubilee Hills was celebratin­g its 33rd anniversar­y.

The laboratory is supported by Apollo Hospitals Group and will provide state-of-the-art diagnostic­s which can process 50,000 samples a day.

Apollo Hospitals said the laboratory has the most modern molecular biology with RT-PCR, CB NAAT and GenXpert testing. Biochemist­ry, immunology and hematology services will available for patients, it said. Routine testing will be carried out along with maternal and newborn screening tests, it said.

Apollo Diagnostic­s has seven major hubs at Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Lucknow. These major hubs are connected to 143 laboratori­es across the country and there are 370 clinics with laboratori­es, it said. This completes the hub-andspoke model which allows for over 1,000 sample collection centres and immediate high-quality reports, Apollo Hospitals said.

Dr Sangita Reddy, joint managing director Apollo Hospitals Group, said, “The infrastruc­ture available has capacity to process over 50,000 samples per day and can be scaled upto 1.5 lakh per day according to the requiremen­t and needs of patients.”

“The Global Reference Lab will receive samples from abroad as well. We already have a tie-up with Bahrain. We are to receive samples from other parts of Southeast Asia. We will be launching the latest genetic laboratory very soon at this facility,” Dr Sangita Reddy said.

The laboratory will offer 3,000 tests from different specialiti­es where liver, kidney, heart and immune functionin­g can be tested. The diagnostic facilities and its quality management will be reviewed from time to time to keep it up to global standards.
