AP APPOINTS 481 DIRECTORS TO 47 CORPORATIONS
The Andhra Pradesh government has appointed 481 directors to 47 corporations across the state.
Government adviser (Public Affairs) Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, BC welfare minister Venugopal Krishna, home minister Mekatoti Sucharita, MP Nandigam Suresh and MLA Meruga Nagarjuna jointly released a list of these directors at a press conference on Saturday. Ramakrishna Reddy underlined that SCs, STs, BCs and minorities have got 58 per cent of posts, the remaining going to other classes. He maintained that directorial appointments are in keeping with Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's policy of ensuring social justice to all communities in the state.
The government adviser asserted that unlike during erstwhile Telugu Desam regime, current appointments have been made in the most transparent manner to empower weaker sections. He claimed that former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had allotted a major chunk of these posts only to upper castes.
Minister Venugopala Krishna said the previous TD government had betrayed BCs by using them only as vote banks during elections. He maintained that CM Jagan has stood by weaker sections at all times, providing `1,04,240 crore through direct benefit transfer (DBT) and another `1,40,438 crore through non-DBT schemes that benefit SCs, STs, BCs and minorities.
Home minister Sucharita pointed out that the CM has given a lion’s share to women, reflecting their true empowerment. 52 per cent have gone to them, she said.
