SHE TEAMS HOLD COUNSELLING SESSION FOR MISCREANTS
Underlining the services of SHE teams in addressing issues related to women, additional director general of police (ADGP), Swati Lakra, said on Thursday that counselling sessions should be utilised as an opportunity to change the behaviour of the accused and help them lead a better lifestyle.
A two-day, online counselling session was held for those caught by SHE teams in offences against women and children, including eve-teasing, harassment over phone and social-media harassment, among others.
Nearly 1,515 adults and 58 minors from 30 police districts and commissionerates were part of the counselling session. SHE teams officers from their respective unit headquarters also participated in the session.
Addressing the session, Swati Lakra explained that the aim of these counselling sessions were to bring about a change in the behaviour of the miscreants.
She urged them to utilise this opportunity to change their behaviour, adding that counselling played an important role in bringing about that change.
Further, Lakra stated that a lot of change has been witnessed in the performance of all the districts and all were using the SHE app to update the records of those caught in offences related to women and child safety. The ADGP further requested counsellors to work towards effective modules to bring about the required change. A total of 1,573 took part in the counselling session held on Thursday. Deputy inspector general of police, Sumathi, told the respondents that the TS Women Safety Wing had the requisite technology to monitor the behaviour of those caught by the SHE teams.
