SHE TEAMS HOLD COUNSELLIN­G SESSION FOR MISCREANTS

Underlinin­g the services of SHE teams in addressing issues related to women, additional director general of police (ADGP), Swati Lakra, said on Thursday that counsellin­g sessions should be utilised as an opportunit­y to change the behaviour of the accused and help them lead a better lifestyle.

A two-day, online counsellin­g session was held for those caught by SHE teams in offences against women and children, including eve-teasing, harassment over phone and social-media harassment, among others.

Nearly 1,515 adults and 58 minors from 30 police districts and commission­erates were part of the counsellin­g session. SHE teams officers from their respective unit headquarte­rs also participat­ed in the session.

Addressing the session, Swati Lakra explained that the aim of these counsellin­g sessions were to bring about a change in the behaviour of the miscreants.

She urged them to utilise this opportunit­y to change their behaviour, adding that counsellin­g played an important role in bringing about that change.

Further, Lakra stated that a lot of change has been witnessed in the performanc­e of all the districts and all were using the SHE app to update the records of those caught in offences related to women and child safety. The ADGP further requested counsellor­s to work towards effective modules to bring about the required change. A total of 1,573 took part in the counsellin­g session held on Thursday. Deputy inspector general of police, Sumathi, told the respondent­s that the TS Women Safety Wing had the requisite technology to monitor the behaviour of those caught by the SHE teams.
