Cops arrest one CBI impostor, 4 at large

Dacoits pose as IT officials, flee with `1.2 cr booty

AFTER SEARCHING the entire house and finding the locker key they made their escape taking away gold ornaments and cash to the tune of `two lakh.

Five persons, who committed dacoity after posing as Income-Tax officials in Gachibowli police limits a few days back, were nabbed by Cyberabad police here on Thursday. Police seized stolen property worth `1.20 crore from the accused, four of whom are absconding. One of the accused was an employee at the complainan­t’s office.

The arrested include three from Andhra Pra desh-Yendla Aravind, Nelapudi Murali Sridhar, Pasagada Venkatrao, and two hoteliers from the city Somani Sandeep and Punnani Mohan. Those absconding are all from Andhra PradeshMar­upudi Jashwanth, Saibaba, Srinivas and Chalakapat­i Srinivas.

According to police, on December 13, Chekka Bhagyalaxm­i (31) residing at Jaya bheri Orange County in Nanakramgu­da, lodged a complaint with Gachibowli police stating that four unknown persons knocked on their doors, which were opened by her driver Swamy Naidu. The four with ID cards as IT department officials, made the complainan­t, her three children and her driver to be seated in the sofa in the hall.

The entire episode was recorded by CCTVs installed at the premises. Hills. Bhuvanatej­a Real Estate Infra Projects Pvt. Ltd., where the complainan­t’s husband Venkata Subrahmany­am is the managing director, is in the same building. One of the accused Jaswanth was employed in the real estate office.

Detailing the episode, Raveendra said that "On December 13, accused Aravind explained the plan to impersonat­e IT officials and loot households of their gold, cash and other valuables.

“Aravind and his friends entered the Jayabheri Orange County community in the afternoon in their vehicle that had a fake number plate (TS 09 UD 9371),” Ravindra said.
