Revanth announces Warangal declaration

- PULI SHARATH KUMAR I DC HANAMKONDA, MAY 6

TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy announced the ‘Warangal Declaration’, a series of measures to assist the farming community, in the presence of party former president Rahul Gandhi at the Rythu Sangarshana Sabha held at the Arts and Science College ground in Hanamkonda on Friday.

Addressing the huge gathering, Revanth Reddy said that whenever one took the name of Telangana state, people would remember people’s poet Kaloji Narayana Rao and former prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao. If one took the name of Warangal, they remembered the tribal goddesses Sammakka and Saralamma and Orugallu which left its mark for several people’s movement.

He said Telangana state was not meant to be a vote bank but was to be a mark of self-confidence. That is why the Congress, understanding the problems of the people, had granted the statehood to Telangana and had stood in support of farmers.

Announcing the Warangal Declaration, Revanth Reddy said that as soon as the Congress formed the government in 2023, it would waive crop loans of `2 lakh at one-go and would introduce ‘Indiramma Rythu Bharosa’ scheme under which landowner as well as tenant farmers would be given `15,000 per acre per year as investment support, and landless farm labourers registered under MGNREGA would be given `12,000.

He said the Congress would procure all crops with high minimum support price (MSP) and reopen sugarcane factories. It would establish turmeric boards and introduce crop insurance schemes along with integrating agricultural work into MGNREGA.

He said that after coming to power, the Congress would provide pattas to podu land farmers.
