Congress, TRS faceoff on Twitter over Rahul visit

- DC CORRESPONDENT

A war of words broke out on Twitter among Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A. Revanth Reddy and Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) leaders K.T. Rama Rao and K. Kavitha on Friday over Rahul Gandhi’s ongoing visit to Telangana.

The exchanges began with Rama Rao calling Rahul’s visit a ‘study tour’. “We welcome Rahul Gandhi to a study tour, let him learn the best farmer friendly practices of Telangana & implement in Congress ruled failed states (sic),” tweeted the IT minister on Friday.

It was then MLC K. Kavitha’s turn to target Rahul’s visit. Via four tweets, she asked the Congress leader how many times he had raised the issues of Telangana in Parliament. She also asked him why the Congress was silent while the TRS was fighting the Union government over various issues.

“As many as 11 states are emulating Hon’ble CM Sri KCR schemes. You are welcome to learn and understand from our state as well !! (sic)” read her tweet. Revanth Reddy responded to both Rama Rao and Kavitha’s tweets. He asked Kavitha, “Where were you when your father was kneeling before Prime Minister Narendra Modi and gave a letter saying Telangana will not give boiled rice to the Centre, hence placing a noose around farmers’ necks?” He similarly questioned her on several other issues.

In response to Rama Rao’s jibe terming Rahul’s visit a ‘study tour,’ Revanth posed sarcastic questions, like whether Rahul could study how to go back on the government’s promise to waive off debts, or how rice, chilli and cotton farmers were dying.

Supporters of the leaders were not to be left far behind. In response to Rama Rao’s tweet, a netizen with the name Pavan INC, fired back with his tweet, “He made Hyderabad into Dallas, Karimnagar into London, Hyderabad old city into Istanbul, and also bought the sea to Istanbul, whenever it rains for few minutes, it turns into sea in no time. Time for TRS to pack their bags under the guidance of IPAC. (sic)”

Commenting on Revanth’s tweet to Kavitha, Twitter user Srikanth Madupu used the RRR movie title to make his point, tweeting: “RRRrahulrevanthRajyam.”

Meanwhile, another netizen Ramesh Raj, commenting on Kavitha’s questions posed to Rahul, asked her to invite Rahul when it rained in Hyderabad, referring to floods in the city caused by rains.

REVANTH POSED sarcastic questions, like whether Rahul could study how to go back on the government’s promise to waive off debts, or how rice, chilli and cotton farmers were dying.
