Schools burdening students with lots of holiday homework

-

A lot of holiday homework is being given to students of junior classes in prestigious CBSE schools located at Alwal, Marredpally, Bowenpally and Suchitra. The schools appear to want to bridge the learning gaps of the last two years by burdening the children with a lot of holiday homework. Besides, the holidays are for just 38 days.

Every subject has two to three activities. The English homework has diary entries, that too a diary made of scrap, followed by 100-200 spellings and more. Maths, Science and Social Studies/EVS have activities like 3D clay models and making crushed paper models, among others. Then there is homework in the languages too.

Teachers will not find time to get academics done by children because most schools have planned major activities and big days during the academic year. There are no rules in place to check the systems followed by schools.

If they had the best interest of the child in mind, the schools would have let the children enjoy their summer vacation in peace. Schools have asked children to carry their homework

with them when they come back to school, on the first day after reopening.

Do we not need to travel with our kids. an experience they did not enjoy during the past two years? Do they not deserve a childhood with at least one month free of all the burden.

Does anyone know how many activities the students and their parents had done during the last two years? Every other day there was a video shoot, special assembly shoot, paper work, craft work, and so much more. Schools don’t even give a respite to parents during holidays because of the Whatsapp groups. Do schools really not understand that we do not wish to hear from them during Sundays and holidays? A enquiry should be made into the matter and schools fined for overburdening children and parents.
