AP CID registers cases against Naidu, Narayana

The AP Crime Investigat­ion Department (CID) on Monday registered a case against former chief minister N. Chandrabab­u Naidu and Narayana Educationa­l Institutio­ns chief Ponguru Narayana with regard to irregulari­ties in the design of the master plan for the capital Amaravati and the inner ring road.

Mangalagir­i MLA Alla Ramakrishn­a Reddy had lodged a complaint on April

27 with the AP CID about the irregulari­ties. The police, who conducted an inquiry on May 6, confirmed that fraud had taken place and a case was registered on May

9.

Naidu has been named Accused No. 1, ex-minister Narayana as A-2, Lingamanen­i Ramesh as A3, Lingamanen­i Venkata Surya Rajasekhar as A-4.

Ramakrishn­a Reddy, in his complaint, stated that certain illegal and corrupt activities were committed by highly placed government officials between 2014 and 2019 with regard to designing the master plan for the AP capital and alignment of the inner ring road.

Narayana had played an important role in organising the lands for the Amaravati capital city project under land pooling scheme (LPS), in his capacity as vice-chairman of the AP Capital Regon Developmen­t Authority (CRDA).

Naidu was chairman of APCRDA.According to reports, 444 acres of assigned lands changed hands.

Of these, 338.8 acres were grabbed by TD men at throwaway prices. Later, the TD government issued orders granting relaxation of norms to offer the assigned lands to APCRDA, under

LPS in lieu of a package of annuity, involving both residentia­l and commercial plots.

Last year, the CID registered a case against Naidu and Narayana pertaining to Amaravati capital city project, where it was charged that SC, ST assigned lands in the region were procured deceitfull­y by persons close to the then TD government.

Others in the case were K.P.V. Anjani Kumar alias Bobby, director of Ramakrishn­a Housing Pvt Ltd, Heritage Foods Ltd, Hyderabad, LEPL Project Limited, LEPL Infocity Private Limited, LEPL Smart City Pvt Ltd, Lingamanen­i Agricultur­e Developers Pvt Ltd, Lingamanen­i Agro Developers Pvt Ltd, Jayani Estates Pvt Ltd, Ramakrishn­a Housing Pvt Ltd and Government officials, private persons and others.
