Rakic says he’s got Blachowicz sorted out

-

Las Vegas (USA), May 11: Alexsandar Rakic knows what he is up against in Sunday’s UFC bout against Jan Blachowicz at the Apex in Las Vegas. He feels he’s got his opponent covered.

“During the last 14 months where I didn’t fight, I was very busy training a lot and improving all my skill sets. My coaches were studying all the UFC light heavyweights in the division. We prepared for Jan’s weaknesses and for his strengths. I believe that after this victory against Jan, I’m going to be fighting in five-round main

events for a long time,” he said.

“I respect Jan as a fighter... he’s a great athlete

and has accomplished a lot of things in the UFC. On Saturday, he’ll be very motivated and focused and to get his belt back, but that’s not going to happen,” he added.

Speaking about his strongest points, Rakic said: “My development in the last year has been everywhere. I’m one year older and one year smarter. Now I make the right choices and use the right techniques in the right moment.”

UFC light heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira will defend his belt against Jiri Prochazka at UFC 275 on June 12 in Singapore. How does he see that fight playing out? “If Glover can survive the first and the middle of the second round of Jiri’s fast attacks, then I think Glover can drag him to the deep waters and probably submit him or even knock him out. But if Glover can’t stand the pressure, then it’s going to be a quick night for Jiri. I see in this fight as a 50-50 chance,” he said, adding he would prefer to face Teixeira as the champion “because he is a bigger name. He is a legend. He’s been long in the in the UFC.”

Live on TV: UFC Fight Night — Jan Blachowicz vs Alexsandar Rakic from 7.30 am (Sunday) on Sony Ten 2, 3, 4.
