Dramatized beauty

The Fox-Eye look is not only a dramatic new beauty craze, but gives the effect of a face-lift without needles!

- SWATI SHARMA

The ‘Fox-Eye’ look is a beauty trend made popular of late by A-listers like Meghan Fox, Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner.

“It is all about making one’s eye appear more elongated, slender and angled upward by a combination of eyeshadow, eyeliner and fake lashes,” says Dr Monica Kapoor, celebrity cosmetologist and director at FLAWLESS Cosmetic clinics & ILACAD Institute.

Often, the tail ends of the eyebrows are shaved and redrawn in a more angular manner. The look is accentuated with a high ponytail that pulls the hair back tightly and further lifts the eyes.

A GAME CHANGER

“A lifted eye or Fox-Eye look gives the illusion of almondshaped eyes, and transforms the shape of the face,” says Dr Monica.

It involves lining the inner corners of the eyes and winging out the ends. And instead of the usual straight lines, makeup artistes opt for blurred and smudged eyeliner. “With some eyeliner, concealer, false eyelashes and eyeshadows, one can achieve the elongated look of almondshaped eyes, resembling the beautiful eye shape of a fox. All you have to do is apply a lighter shade of concealer on five areas around your eyes — the outer corner, the inner corner, under the sides of the nose and around the sides of the nose and under the lower lip line. Elevate the vibrance of the look by drawing the wing with a pop of colour,” suggests Dr Monica, adding, “It is definitely a game changer.”

Apart from enhancing the eyes with eyeliner, you can accentuate the look by focusing on the eyebrows as well. “Instead of a perfectly arched brow, go for Hepburn-like upward, angled brow. The tail-end of the eyebrow must be higher than the start,” explains the cosmetologist.

HOW DO YOU CREATE THE LOOK?

“The inner corner of the almond shape is tilted downwards,” says Asha Hariharan, Education Director, Enrich, Salons & Academy, hair and beauty academy.

TO ACHIEVE THE SHARPER FOX-EYE, ASHA SAYS

● Apply a very thin black liner on the inner corner but not on the inside of the tear duct, instead just hugging the outside of the inner corner and drawing a sharp tilt like that of a bird’s beak.

● Draw an outline with a pencil first and once you have got the right shape you can go over it with liquid eyeliner.

● Now sharpen this shape by using a foundation and cut it on the outside to give a cat-eye tilt. The fox-eye look is similar to the cat-eye look.

● To enhance the tilt and shape, avoid using a liner on the top lash line and instead use a liquid liner only towards the outer upper corner of the upper lid.

THE FOX-EYE IS AN EXAGGERATED LOOK WITH LOTS OF DRAMA AND ROMANTICISM. FOR MORE DRAMA, A LITTLE GLITTER OR SHIMMER CAN BE WORN IN THE INNER CORNER TO ACCENTUATE IT.
