RELAX POLICE RECRUITS’ AGE LIMIT: REVANTH

- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD, MAY 17

Noting that lakh of aspirants have lost an opportunity to get police jobs due to the overage factor, the TPCC chief Revanth Reddy has urged Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao to grant an age relaxation of two years for police constable recruitments.

In a letter, Revanth Reddy said the youth, unemployed persons and students had participated in the Telangana movement with an aim to get jobs in the new state. Students had boycotted their studies and participated in the Telangana movement.

“For seven years, there was no proper notification for recruiting the youths into state government jobs. Recently, the government released notification for recruiting 17,000 youths into the police department. As many as four lakh aspirants could not apply for the jobs due to age bar,” Revanth said.

Meanwhile, the Telangana state-level police recruitment board (TSLPRB) has issued notification for recruitments, saying SC and ST applicants must have attained the age of

18 years to the minimum and a maximum of 40 years as on July 1, 2022. The applicants must have been born not earlier than July 2, 1982 and not later than July 1, 2004, it said.

In all other cases (other than SC and ST), the applicants must have attained the age of

18 and not have attained the age of 35 as on July 1, 2022. They must have been born not earlier than July 2, 1987 and not later than July 1, 2004.

However, the Government of Telangana vide GO Ms 48 of the General Administration (Services-A) department, dated April 13, 2022, has raised the upper age limit for direct recruitment by three years for uniformed services including Police. This relaxation is in addition to the cited upper age limit.

REVANTH SAID many participated in the Telangana movement with an aim to get jobs in the new state.
