Khushi title gets mixed reactions
Will Vijay-Sam’s film live up to the name?
A couple of days ago, it was announced that the romantic drama starring Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha under Shiva Nirvana’s direction would be titled Khushi.
The announcement met with a mixed response. While some hailed it, another section, notably Pawan Kalyan’s fans, were not too pleased, as the Pawan-starrer Kushi (2001), directed by SJ Suryah, is a cult classic.
Here’s a sample of the different reactions:
“#Khushi, #Okkadu, #Simhadri, #Manmathudu and #GangLeader etc. They are phenomenal movies. They have to be left just like that. I can’t imagine having another #khushi or #okkadu” wrote one social media user.
Another, user,
@PreethamMalise1, said, “Exactly #Khushi ante #pawankalyan okadike sontham Classic movie tho IH kottadu.”
@Rayudu98858377 felt “No one can repeat the magic of #PawanKalyan with #kushi its a classic just for songs youth watched 10 to 15 times those days. #khushi”
Some netizens were looking forward to seeing Vijay Deverakonda’s intense role in the upcoming film.
@sree_n_r wrote, “Never mind the trolls. Angry young man look suits #VijayDeverakonda best after #PawanKalyan ?? Hope the new #Khushi becomes another the cult like the classic #Khushi.”
A few feel that the names of certain cult classic films should not be reused.
@akshaykumar_twi: Varun Tej did Tholiprema, Nani did Gang leader (though name altered). But when you hear those titles, first thing comes to mind is Pawan Kalyan's Tholiprema and Chiranjeevi ‘s Gang leader. Same goes for Khushi movie.
However, the film’s producer Ravi Shankar says that director Shiva Niravana is a big fan of Pawan Kalyan and also the film Khushi.
“Shiva had registered the film’s title long back. When he narrated the story I felt this title (Khushi) would be apt for this romantic drama,” he says.
Acknowledging that Pawan Kalyan’s Khushi was a blockbuster, Ravi hopes his film will match the performance.
