BJP: Centre does not need KCR certificate

Says Rao is ignoring plight of farmers in state

- BALU PULIPAKA | DC HYDERABAD/KARIMNAGAR, MAY 22

The BJP on Sunday had a dig at Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for ‘ignoring the plight of farmers in Telangana’ and instead going to Punjab to express solidarity with families of farmers, who had died during the agitation against Centre’s new farm laws.

Union minister G. Kishan Reddy said that Rao’s moves would not rattle the Bharatiya Janata Party, which was not concerned even if he met the President of the United States or the Pakistan Prime Minister. The Centre does not require any certificate from Rao, he said.

“The Chief Minister had several times in the past claimed that he will create a sensation in the country but nothing has happened so far. Any sensations that are to come, will be limited to Pragati Bhavan,” Reddy said.

Meanwhile, state BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar

said in Karimnagar that Chandrashekar Rao’s claims of creating sensations were intended to get him some media publicity. No leader from any other state takes him seriously, he said.

“Why is he consoling aggrieved families from other states when he never visited the bereaved families of farmers, youth and RTC workers and those of the 27 Intermediate students who committed suicide in Telangana,” Sanjay wondered.

One of the reasons for Rao going to other states at this particular juncture was to avoid meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is arriving in Hyderabad on May 26, he said.

Sanjay asked why Rao was going to console the deceased farmers of other states when he had never visited the bereaved families of farmers, youth and RTC workers, and 27 Intermediate students died by suicide in the Telangana state.
