Congress leaders seem to be leaving no stone unturned to reach out to the people during the ongoing Rachabanda programme across the state. Braving the scorching sun, they approach farmers to explain about the Warangal Declaration, in which the grand old party made several promises to farmers. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) office bearers and other senior leaders are going around in their respective Assembly constituencies to explain the Warangal Declaration to farmers.

Former All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi directed the party leaders not to stay in Hyderabad but to tour villages to interact with people, especially farmers. Reacting to this, TPCC president and MP A. Revanth Reddy launched Rachabanda programme in Telangana ideologue late Prof K. Jayashankar’s native Akkampet village in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on May 21. He also took part in a series of Rachabanda programmes in Vikarabad and MedchalMalkajgiri districts.

Congress MPs N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, former PCC presidents V. Hanumantha Rao, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, former leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammad Ali Shabbir and others are visiting various villages and interacting with farmers.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, senior Congress leader and former MLA Malreddy Ranga Reddy said the Rachabanda programme reconnected farmers with the Congress. “They (farmers) are showing much interest in listening to the Warangal Declaration,” he said. Replying to a question, he said that they were visiting villages in the morning and evening hours and conducting interactive sessions. “The Congress will definitely get its previous glory soon,” he said.

Meanwhile, party senior leaders have prepared their daily schedule for the Rachabanda programme and are working hard to give propaganda on social media. The Congress has a strong cadre base in villages. District Congress committees and individual leaders are maintaining separate social media groups to reach out to the party activists and people.
