Rousing welcome for Modi at airport
BJP cadre present in full strength during show
BJP leaders and activists gave a rousing welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Begumpet airport on Thursday as he landed here to take part in the 20th anniversary of the Indian School of Business (ISB).
Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, Union minister for tourism and culture G. Kishan Reddy, minister for animal husbandry Talasani Srinivas, BJP state president and MP Bandi Sanjay were among those who received the PM at the airport.
Outside the airport, BJP leaders and activists chanted “Modi ..Modi” as the PM came out. In Bonalu way with beats of Dappu (drums), tribal women in traditional attire welcomed the PM.
Senior BJP leaders from various districts as also the state office-bearers were present in strength at the welcome event at the airport premises.
Ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival, BJP national secretary and Madhya Pradesh state incharge Muralidhar Rao and former MLA N.V.S.S. Prabhakar were present to coordinate the welcome.
BJP state president Bandi Sanjay urged police officials to allow the party activists to hold the meeting. They waited patiently in scorching heat for over an hour. Prime Minister Modi thanked the participants for their affection towards him.
The Prime Minister left for the Indian Business School event and later departed from the Begumpet airport in a copter.
A sudden change in the climate created anxious movements for the official machinery when the Prime Minister concluded his address at ISB.
It started drizzling and discussions were held by officials whether the PM should take the return journey to the airport via road.
The Telangana police checked the matter with the Prime Minister’s Special Protection Group, but the copter pilot intervened to say he was confident of taking off in a safe mode.
