THE DGP directed that steps be taken to reward policemen who perform their best even at the ground level.

Telangana state DGP Mahender Reddy presented awards to 256 police officers who achieved best results in functional verticals, on Tuesday.

Reddy said the functional verticals policy was implemented by the state police department to enhance the professional work efficiency of police officers and has resulted in better results in cases being investigated and cases being completed in a shorter time with the culprits being punished in a timely manner.

Additional DGs Govind Singh, Rajiv Ratan, Jitender, Swati Lakra, Nagireddy, Sanjay Jain, Vijay Kumar, IG Kamal Haasan Reddy and other senior police officials were present at the function. “The police stations in the state should be able to provide quick response, prevent crime, work on criminal investigations, complete speedy investigation of cases, issue summons, execute warrants, record armed evidence in courts and punish offenders,” said the official, explaining that the performance of constable level officers in the most remote police stations in the state is being evaluated through these and awards are being given at the state level in recognition of the best serving police officers.

He directed that steps be taken to reward policemen who perform their best even at the ground level.

The DGP clarified that the names of officers would be nominated for police medals offered by the state and central governments on the basis of these functional verticals.
