KCR ignores Central schemes: Kishan
Says, some CMs confine themselves to farmhouses
Union minister G. Kishan Reddy, on Tuesday, used the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing eight years in office to launch a not so veiled attack on Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. “The Prime Minister, for the last eight years, has been working continuously, without any breaks for the development of the country. On the other hand, there are chief ministers who have not gone to the Secretariat, disappear into their farm houses, or Pragathi Bhavans. And they do not even allow farmers, or farmer groups to meet them,” Kishan
Reddy said.
Kishan Reddy was speaking at the Central Research Institute of Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA) on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s virtual interaction and address to farmers and other beneficiaries of the Central government welfare programmes on Tuesday. A few thousand farmers from 14 districts in Telangana attended the event, CRIDA officials said. He said the Telangana government was not allowing welfare programmes launched by Prime Minister Modi to reach the people of the state, as in the case of the health insurance scheme Ayushman Bharat. The state government was not implementing this programme that could benefit many. The TRS government also did not want to implement the PM Awas Yojana by constructing houses for the poor, and instead started its own 2-bedroom housing programme, which had not made the promised progress, he said.
Kishan Reddy said the Centre was ready to fund its share for constructing houses for the poor in Telangana if the state government was willing to come forward to do so. “Even if it wants to build 50 lakh houses, the Centre is ready to provide its share of funds,” he said. Stating that the TRS government was worried that Modi would get credit for ensuring welfare for the poor and needy, as well as for the development of Telangana. Speaking after the event to reporters, Kishan Reddy said the decision of the TS Pollution Control Board to issue closure notices to the Ramagundam Fertilizer and Chemicals Limited factory was also borne out of this fear.
