- DC CORRESPONDENT

A missing letter from a police station signboard prompted a netizen to take up the issue with the top brass of police and even a minister through twitter on Tuesday.

The letter ‘A’ from the word ‘Hyderabad’ was missing from the signboard of the Panjagutta police station, making the board read ‘Hyder bad’. Noticing the missing letter from the signboard, one Thota Rahul Patel on Twitter tagged IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao and asked him to release funds for the maintenance of the police station. “Please release funds for maintenance otherwise people looking at the nameboard will misunderstand. ‘HYDERABAD NOT A BAD CITY’,” (sic), he said, and also tagged the official handles of the Hyderabad city police commissioner, the Cyberabad police, the Telangana police etc.

Replying to the tweet, the SHO (station house officer) of Panjagutta station, on his official handle, said that the letter fell off due to heavy wind force on Monday night and that orders were given to fix the same. SHO Niranjan Reddy, tweeted, “Good Evening Sir, Due to heavy wind force on last night, the letters on the name board were detached and fell down & completely broken and couldn't be reused, So we have already given an order to make the letters and it will take one day time,” (sic). The Panjagutta police station, which has the official residential bungalow of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao among other major colonies and significant establishments under its jurisdiction, was adjudged the second best police station in the country in a survey conducted by the Quality Council of India and ministry of home affairs in 2018. The police station, with around 2.5 lakh population under its jurisdiction as per their website, bagged the award for its speedy disposal of cases with the use of technology and smooth public services.
