LITTLE THINGS BRING TRUE HAPPINESS

-

WIT HAS LONG BEEN AN AXIOM OF MINE THAT THE LITTLE THINGS ARE INFINITELY THE MOST IMPORTANT.

ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE

e all wish to be happy and in our pursuit of happiness, we focus on the monumental things in life. However, unlike big life events and impressive accomplishments, it's the little things that bring true happiness. In today’s world when we are living in the pandemonium of war, strife, mass shootings, and the pandemic, it’s even more important to be proactive about creating and appreciating these little moments of happiness. So, here are some small things that nourish our body, mind, and soul. Making time to add these things o your day will bring bliss, happiness, and sheer joy into our lives:

Pray and Meditate: Prayer and meditation nourish our soul, increase mindfulness, and prevent unnecessary anxieties and worries.

Practice Mindfulness: Treasure the little moments in life that often go unnoticed, this could be simply watering your plants in the morning or playing with your children or pets.

Practice Gratitude: Expressing gratitude has positive effects on our physical and mental well-being. Practice a two-minute thankfulness routine by writing down what you’re grateful for each day.

Be Kind: Helping bring joy. Being kind to family, friends and even random strangers enables us to deepen connections and make new friends.

Declutter: Declutter and organize the home, which in turn leads to decluttering our minds.

Early to bed, early to rise: Wake up early to have time to meditate, breathe, and watch the birds, while slowly, mindfully, drinking coffee or tea.

Mindful Spending: Whenever you feel the need to buy something, stop. Wait twenty-four hours. Think about why do you want it? Do you need it? What void is it filling? If you still feel like shopping, then buy it.

Get Rid of the Idiot Box: Instead of watching mindless shows on TV or binge-watching Netflix, try listening to soothing music instead.

My dear readers, I wish that you take some time to slow down, incorporate some of these little things into your day, and see what a difference it makes. Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were actually monumental things.
