TPCC slams KCR’s silence on rape case

- DC CORRESPONDENT

All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesperson Dr Dasoju Sravan demanded the state government set up a fast track court to investigate and punish the guilty within 30 to 45 days in the Jubilee Hills minor rape case. Lambasting Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and the Telangana police for tying to protect the guilty in the rape case, Dr Sravan demanded that the government appoint a special public prosecutor to ensure justice for the minor rape victim in the sensational case, which was bringing disrepute to the city of Hyderabad.

“Why is the Chief Minister silent on the minor’s gangrape incident, though it became a nationwide issue? Is it because the culprit is the son of an MLA from AIMIM, which is an ally of the TRS? Why is municipal affairs minister K.T. Rama Rao not making any statement or tweets on the minor’s rape case, which is tarnishing the image of Hyderabad? Does he fear AIMIM?” he questioned. Sravan also demanded to provide all the security arrangements to the victim, till the case proceedings were completed and justice was done.

Meanwhile, Mahila Congress leaders observed silent protest here at Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday demanding arrest of accused in the minor girl gangrape case. Women leaders and activists in large numbers took part in the daylong protest. During the protest, police personnel were heavily deployed in and around Gandhi Bhavan. The protestors tied black cloth around their mouths and displayed placards with the slogans of ‘No Rape’.

Speaking to reporters, Mahila Congress national president Netta D’Souza criticised that TRS government was trying protect the accused in the gang rape of minor girl. She said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had completely failed to secure the women of Telangana state.

Netta D’Souza along with state Mahila Congress president Sunitha Rao and former minister Konda Surekha submitted a memorandum to DGP M. Mahender Reddy demanding speedy justice to the victim.
