Teach Marathi in UP schools: Maha BJP neta
RAJ THACKERAY-LED Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has reacted sharply to it stating that Kripashankar should suggest the UP government to set up industries in UP to generate employment for their youth so that they do not need to come here.
Vice-president of Maharashtra BJP Kripashankar Singh has written to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath urging him to make Marathi an optional language for secondary and higher secondary education in the UP. This would help the students to get jobs in Maharashtra, he said.
Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has reacted sharply to it stating that Kripashankar should suggest the UP government to set up industries in UP to generate employment for their youth so that they do not need to come here.
Maharashtra Congress said Singh’s letter shows UP has not been developed under Yogi government.
Mr. Singh, who is a former Congressman and state minister, had joined the BJP in July 2021.
In his letter to Mr. Yogi, the BJP vice president said, “I have been staying in Maharashtra for last 50 years and also maintaining relationships in Uttar Pradesh especially in Poorvanchal. During these 50 years, I found that many students who clear the secondary and higher secondary examinations, migrate to Maharashtra to get appropriate jobs.”
“In my view, if Marathi is made an optional language in Secondary and Higher Secondary then that may help students in getting better jobs in Maharashtra,” the letter added.
Speaking with this newspaper, MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande said that Kripashankar Singh should suggest the UP government to set up industrial units in Uttar Pradesh. “There is nothing wrong in learning Marathi language. But youths should not have to migrate to get employment,” he said.
Sachin Sawant, general secretary of Maharashtra Congress, said that the letter portrays a grim picture of unemployment in UP. “This letter from the BJP leader is a confession of the BJP that the Adityanath government has miserably failed in generating employment in UP and is dependent on Maharashtra for jobs. Same Adityanath blamed Maharashtra for ill-treating migrants while his own government was responsible for the same,” Mr. Sawant said.
