“There are other Indian actors like Mohan Kapur and Zenobia Shroff who play her parents. There is Pakistani actor Fawad Khan as well on the show who will appear later. But importantly the show has several references to Partition in India as well as films like Baazigar and others too. The series has caught the attention of the south Asian community in the US apart from fans in India and Pakistan who are keen to watch the show. Also, the fact that the lead actress is playing a Muslim superhero has also got the attention in a larger segment of the world making the show very inclusive,” says a source.

Ms Marvel follows Kamala as an Avengers fan who discovers that she too has superpowers and is Marvel’s first teen Muslim superhero.
