‘A feel-good film’

10th Class Diaries bring back childhood memories, says Sreeram

DURING MY 20 YEARS OF JOURNEY, I HAVE DONE OVER 50 FILMS, AND LEARNT A LOT OF THINGS. LEARNING IS A CONTINUOUS PROCESS, AND MY BIGGEST LEARNING IS ‘NEVER TAKE THINGS FOR GRANTED’

— SREERAM

Actor Sreeram’s upcoming film 10th Class Diaries is about a reunion of school friends and their bonding. It is a subject dear to his heart.

“I was born in Chennai but relocated to Hyderabad. My parents were Central Government employees and transfers were inevitable,” he says. As such, he had to move away from friends often.

“That’s why I believe reunions help me feel connected with my friends,” he says.

Talking about the Anji directorial, Sreeram says the film is about how the participants in the reunion are able to address one-another’s concern and celebrate their achievements.

Sreeram plays a guy settled abroad as a successful entrepreneur. “10th Class Diaries is a feel-good entertainer; it is a blend of fun and emotions, he says, adding that the director incorporated some real-life incidents from his college life too. Shooting college scenes made him nostalgic, he shares.

When Sreeram comes to Hyderabad, he remembers Punjagutta, where he had lived, and makes it a point to savour street food like golgappa, jelabi, irani tea, etc. which he used to enjoy with his friends. “That’s what we have shown in the film too — how important it is to relive the memories that keep us invigorated,” the actor says.

Ironically, Sreeram could not attend the reunion of his Std X batch at Bhavans Jubilee Hills recently. “I regret that. People have to come from various places, so sometimes it gets difficult,” he says.

During his school days in Hyderabad, Sreeram watched stars like ANR and Nagarjuna shooting, and was awestruck by the fans who thronged the sets. “Perhaps that’s when the seed of becoming an actor took root in me,” he says.

Being an outsider in the industry Sreeram learned things the hard way, and believes in destiny.
