Bollywood divas not fazed by the Big C
Mahima Chaudhary is the latest Bollywood actress to announce that she is putting up a good fight against cancer. She revealed it to the world by re-sharing a video posted by Anupam Kher after she asked him to help her tell the story.
“I called Mahima Chaudhary from America a month ago to play an important role in my 525th film The Signature. … that’s when I came to know that she was battling breast cancer. Her way of life and her attitude can give new inspiration to many women across the world,” Kher wrote.

Rukh Khan, also worked in Dhadkan, Kurukshetra, and Baghban. She was last seen in the Bengali crime thriller Dark Chocolate in 2016. She married Bobby Mukherjee in 2006 but the couple parted ways in 2013. She is now bringing up her daughter Ariana.
Re-posting Kher’s video, the VJ-turned actress, wrote, “Thank you for your love and support! Anupam Kher (sic).”
Kher’s wife Kirron is also fighting cancer. She was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cells, and is undergoing treatment. She has been actively working even after revealing her health condition.
Several other actresses have survived the Big C.
Lisa Ray chose to keep the diagnosis of multiple myeloma under wraps, and continued with her acting assignments while she overcame the disease with treatment.
Sonali Bendre who had metastatic cancer four years ago was successfully treated in New York. Ayushmann Khurrana’s wife, author Tahira Kashyap, was diagnosed with cancer in 2018. Post recovery, she has been working hard to spread awareness about the disease.
Ten years ago, actress Manisha Koirala was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and was declared cancer-free in 2015 after a long fight. She later released a memoir titled Healed: How cancer gave me a newe life.
