Christians hold Trumpet Festival, rue rising crime
Hundreds of Christians and their families, along with scores of pastors, took out a rally along the P.V.N.R. Marg on the banks of Hussainsagar, chanting hymns and playing the trumpets on Saturday as part of their Trumpet Festival celebrations. The rally that started from People’s Plaza proceeded towards the Jalvihar and returned to the same place. The organisers said they had conducted the rally to proclaim that the growing number of crimes symbolised the end of the world.
Rajeshwara Rao, MLC, who flagged off the walk, said, “I am very glad that such events are happening, where good news for the society is shared. We want each and every one in this world to have a better life.”
Selvin Raj, president, Greater Hyderabad Trumpet Festival rally organising committee, said, “People from different
walks of life took part in this event being held annually.”
B. Jonna, one of the organisers, said, “The programme passed on smoothly as we got permission from the authorities easily and quickly.”
Sarah Porkodi, of Jesus Anointing Ministries, Yapral, who came along with her church contingent, said, “We feel delighted to take part in this rally. Each day, we are shocked to hear reports of an increasing
number of crimes, especially by youth who are having wrong habits of drug abuse.”
Paul Raju Guralla, of Deccan Church, Prem Nagar, Chintal Basti, said, “These types of walks should be organised frequently, so that we will have the spirit of solidarity.”
Ajay Kumar from JCNM, along with his church members, said, “Singing is the best part. It’s a pleasant walk on Saturday morning.”
