500 Sec’bad rioters tracked
Cops use face recognition system, CDR and reach their residences
Police officials, who are probing the Secunderabad Railway Station arson case, are understood to have utilised a face recognition system with the CCTV footage to identify the agitators belonging to districts in Telangana and neighbouring states based on Aadhar data.
After keeping track of more than 500 mobile numbers and their regular movements, the special teams, which are probing the antiAgnipath arson case, reportedly went to the residences of suspects living in several districts in the state. The district police also said to have extended their assistance in identifying the protestors.
It was reported that the officials collected more than 500 mobile numbers from the WhatsApp group used by the protestors and kept a close watch on the call data and chat activities. Sources said hundreds of mobile numbers were switched off hours after the arson took place at Secunderabad Railway Station.
Special teams reached Nalgonda, Karimnagar, Warangal, Adilabad, Khammam, Mahbubnagar, Sanga-reddy and VIkarabad based on the mobile tower locations of networking services. Armed with a bunch of calla data, WhatsApp chat and mobile tower locations, the special teams knocked on the doors of residences of suspects along with the respective local police.
“Based on the mobile phone call data, the teams are analysing the criminal past of the agitators, suspecting that anti-social elements might have radicalised the protest that turned
violent at Secunderabad Railway Station. The teams have also collected details of parents, siblings and their nature of work for livelihood,” sources said.
The investigators have
also shared video grabs of CCTVs installed inside the Secunderabad Railway Station and its surroundings to district police officers to identify the miscreants by using a face recognition system
based on Aadhar data. Based on the results, the special teams are planning to arrest the agitators for taking action for arson and damaging property in the railway station.
